Treatment vs. Symptom Relief

Have a headache?  Take an Advil or Tylenol, the headache goes away typically.  When the drug wears off, the headache returns.  This is not normal.  Something else is the cause of the headache and the Advil/Tylenol is only treating the symptoms temporarily while something major may be going on to cause the Headaches.

Your eyes feel tired, itchy, scratchy ,red, burning and even tearing up too much eyes-put in eye drops & relief is almost instant.  However the symptoms return.  At BetterEyes! we teach you which type of Dry Eye you have (there are only two types of Dry Eye) how to TREAT THE DRY EYE-not just the symptoms.

The Dry Eye Exam-what is it?

At BetterEyes! we have invested in the latest diagnostic technologies to assess your level of Dry Eye.  We don't suggest you wait for symtoms, because many times the symptoms are caused by a loss of Meibomian Glands (25-30 tiny glands inside your eye lids).  These glands make vital oils, enzymes and antibodies that help fight against allergy infection and dryness.  Once lost they never come back! The Dry Eye Examination Involves

  • Meibography: infrared images of your oil tear-glands

  • Tear Osmolarity: Salt Content in your tears

  • Tear break up time: how long before your tears evaporate off your cornea

  • Tear Duct Drainage assessment

  • MMP9 testing: Inflammation testing

  • Corneal sensitivity testing

Your Dry Eye Exam should be performed after a recent comprehensive eye health and vision examination that has been completed at least 6 months prior to your Dry Eye Examination.

Treat Your Dry Eyes
(not your just your symptoms)

Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT-Dry Eye Treatment)

Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) using the Equinox device is a non-invasive treatment that uses light to help relieve dry eye symptoms. The Equinox device emits a specific wavelength of light that penetrates the skin around the eyes, targeting the Meibomian glands, which are responsible for producing the oily layer of tears that prevent evaporation.

The therapy works by gently warming these glands, helping to unblock them and improve their function. This leads to better tear production and overall eye lubrication, reducing the discomfort associated with dry eyes. The treatment is safe, painless, and typically requires multiple sessions to achieve optimal results.

The Equinox device is designed to be user-friendly, and the therapy sessions are usually short, making it a convenient option for those suffering from chronic dry eye syndrome.
